How to use TalentLMS for compliance training

Compliance training is the process of educating employees on state, industry, or company laws and regulations and how those affect their jobs and responsibilities. In highly regulated industries, where rules change often, there’s a risk of non-compliance. It’s why employees need to stay up-to-date at all times.

TalentLMS lets you certify users for completing compliance courses to ensure their full awareness of the company's regulatory environment.

You can set certifications to expire on a specific date or after specified periods of time. And for your employees to stay certified, they will have to retake the updated compliance courses.

To set up an automated certificate expiration and renewal process, follow these steps:

1. Sign in to your TalentLMS account as an Administrator, go to Home > Courses (1), and click to edit a course (2).

2. Go to a course page and click on Options (3).

3. Go to the Certificate (4) tab, and in the Certification duration (5) drop-down list, choose a time period before the certificate expires (e.g., 2 years).

4. From the Re-assign course to user drop-down menu, select on certification expiration (6). You can choose to reset and reassign the user to the course from this option, see more about this here.

Note: Now, the user can complete the course again, once their certificate expires. 

• If you want the new certificate to show the latest issued date, use the relevant smart tag on its certificate template. The smart tag is {last_issued_date}. 
• In the event of recertification, previous certificates aren’t lost. TalentLMS holds the last 20 certificates issued for a user (per course) and you can find them archived in the user’s Certificates tab, under User reports. If more than 20 certificates are issued for a user, the oldest certificate is deleted.

5. Click Save (7) to save your changes.

Note: When their certificate has expired, a user receives a default automated notification. You can set up a new notification that alerts the user X hours before certification expiration from the TalentLMS notifications engine.
